LONG HAIR IS TRENDING 📈
Zverev wins Rome, and I just knew it
Picking the winner of a tennis tournament these days is like picking the winner of the Kentucky Derby - damn near impossible.
Rafa is no longer feared, Djokovic is still finding his groove, and Alcaraz & Sinner are checked out with injuries. What does this mean? The field is wide open and there are no clear favorites.
But guess what? I found an edge.
The usual metrics like head-to-head records, player stats, and forehand ratings are becoming far less useful than a Tesla at a gas station.
So you know what I did? I used the “eye test.”
Before data was a thing, coaches, scouts, and fans would debate who was the best athlete. Best serve? Ivo Karlovic. Best volleys? Pete Sampras. Best groundstrokes? Andre Agassi. Best footwork? Lleyton Hewitt.
No data to back it up. Just your good ol’ trusty eyeballs.
Now, Zverev doesn’t blow the competition off the court in any category. But he moves exceptionally well on clay, and is excellent in shot selection during rallies.
Also, he has really, really, ridiculously good looking hair.
And the winners leading up to the Rome Masters all have beautiful long hair.. so Zverev just had to be next, right?
THE PERFECT PAIR DOESN’T EXI..
THE duo tennis fans deserve, but not the one it needs
Ben Shelton & Sasha Bublik played doubles?
It was unexpected.. it was electrifying.. and it was like watching two peas in a pod, having so much fun.
The ATP has been busy doing everything they can to make doubles more entertaining. A few months ago, they introduced some rule changes:
Reduced shot clock
Quicker changeovers
Free fan movement
Was doubles more entertaining to watch with the new rules? Not exactly.
But the Shelton and Bublik pairing made doubles ENTERTAINING. They hit accidental winners, behind the back saves, ear-grazing friendly fire shots, and simply, the best hugs.
The on-court bromance was heartwarming and their chemistry was infections.
So there’s just one question.. are they pairing up for Roland Garros or what?!
ERRANI & PAOLINI WIN IN ROME 📈📈📈

DJOKOVIC IS PLAYING AN ATP250, WHAT?
Novak is not looking good for Roland Garros
Qualifiers are underway in Paris. But Novak is in Geneva. WTF?
The GOAT is finding himself in unfamiliar territory. The 24-time Grand Slam champion hasn’t lifted a single trophy in 2024.
So what does he decide to do? Go back to the basics.
First, Djokovic not winning a title by May is like Steph Curry not scoring a 3-pointer for half the season. It just doesn’t happen. And yet, here we are doing a double-take because Novak’s 2024 trophy case is looking emptier than my snack cabinet (I snack a lot).
But you know what’s cool?
Novak is eating his humble pie. He needs more matches under his belt and he’s doing exactly what he needs to get hot at the right time.
Bravo, Novak. I’m excited to see you work. Idemooo!
